How to BE a Good Blog Writer?

Have you ever thought about how to be a good blog writer?

There is a train of thought – that you are either a good blog writer, or a not so good blog writer. But I happen to believe, anyone can be a good blog writer.  It just takes some practice, determination and a willingness to learn.

How to be a good blog writer all of the time…

‘READ before you WRITE‘ – Taking time to read other kinds of content (before you even consider putting pen to paper), is a great way to get your brain cells working.

The more we read, the better we will become.  Not just in our writing, but in everything we do.  There is a lot to be said for a well-read person.  I remember my college tutor telling me that, 15 years ago – I didn’t believe him at the time, but he was right.

Reading is a great way to spark new ideas, learn new things, hear different writing styles and find out what we like.  Spending 30-60 minutes doing this, right before you write your blog post, is a great way to learn how to be a good blog writer.

Delivering value in every sentence

This one is not easy.  Whilst all bloggers, wanting to know how to be a better blog writer will try to offer value to their readers regularly, it really is hard to do that in every sentence.  Having said that, it is a good goal to strive for, and it sure makes you think about the words you choose to write on your blog.  Give it a go!

Ever notice when we put ourselves under pressure we perform better?  Sticking to an allotted time to write a blog post is a great way to build discipline and ultimately write better.  It might be messy in the beginning, but over time you will learn how to quickly construct quality blog posts and before you know it you will know how to be a better blog writer.

I also like to be strict with myself about the length of blog posts. I try not to go over 500 words and learning to say more with less – is also a great skill-set a good blogger should possess.

Continue to research your niche.

As well as being able to physically construct and write a good blog post.  It really helps when you know your niche inside out and are always on top of what is current.  Your readers will thank you more for your content, when you deliver blog posts that aren’t just written well, but which give them everything they need.

I hope this has given you some ideas about how to be a better blog writer. I would love to hear how you make your blog posts as good as possible.
