Today I want to speak to you about how to be a better blogger. Now the principles that I am going to cover really apply to anything, but since you are bloggers, well I wanted to speak to you personally. How long have you been blogging for? Are you getting the success you deserve? If you aren’t what are you doing to make improvements?
I say this because the more we strive to be our best the better we become, whether that is to be a better blogger, video maker, mother, podcaster, best friend. It really doesn’t matter. There is always room for improvement in anything we do. In fact if you only ever strive for perfection you are not perfect at all.
Before you all start throwing metaphorical tomatoes at me. What I mean is this. If you are only happy with your content, videos, audios etc, when you consider them completely perfect. Then you are not open for feedback, constructive criticism and embracing that anything is possible.
The Biggest Room in the World, Is the Room for Improvement….Duke Ellington.
I mean it, anything, REALLY is possible and even though you might not believe what you are doing and creating right now can ever get any better, I’m here to tell you that it TOTALLY can. Anyway enough of my pep talk.
But there are lots of ways we can become a better blogger
- Ask your readers for feedback
- Evaluate what you have already done (check blog stats and engagement)
- Never stop learning. (Listen to podcasts, watch videos, read)
- Push boundaries, do what has never been done before.
- Trust that even though something might seem impossible, you will find a way.
So tell me, do you routinely evaluate your blog and business? Do you ask for feedback? Have you ever had a crazy idea, that seemed impossible?
As always I value your comments and look forward to reading your thoughts below. Please share the post if you found it interesting.

Hi Beth – the points you’re making here chime in very well with Jon Morrow’s recent post, which is all about improving yourself – I don’t agree with all he has to say, but his basic premise is sound, namely that the smarter you become as a person, the more effective your blogging will be.
I think feedback from readers is one of the most valid measures of your success.

I agree Beth. It all starts with your mindset. If you believe that you can do it, and you keep pushing for it, you will make it happen. You have to be able to handle constructive criticism without letting it break you down. Great advice. 🙂

Another great message, Beth.
We can’t know everything. Anything we try in life is constant improvement. When I started my blogging, it was hideous. But I read other blogs, I asked, and I DID it!
And I got better. The room for improvement was huge, and there’s still plenty of space to grow, but simply by focusing on improvement, I’ve personally made huge leaps!

I find it hard to get really useful feedback. Friends are kind and are always positive whereas it would help to be told where I could be improving. I do tend to my my own worst critic so I suppose that spurs me on to try and be better. I could definitely do with pushing some more boundaries though.
